Dinner and the interesting accident..

At lunch, a good friend gave us what was a simple recipe..Chicken breast (boneless), can of cranberries with whole berries, Lipton onion soup..some 3 Tab of Catalina Dressing..350 for 25 min..simple enough..but for some reason I thought she also said a can of cream of chicken soup..Well, when you mix all this it is sort of a purple color..but I put it on the bottome of the casserol, chicken on top..top with the rest of the sauce.and I baked it..I made some brown rice and some peas..I left chicken if for more like 30 min. but I have to say..It was really good..Do I file this under Mistakes?
Try it..Next time I will try it the way she told me..right now..we are sopping up the gravy with a nice hard roll..YES!!

You have got to be kidding..

A fantastic day to be alive..but to say that 50 is the new 60 .or do I have that backwords? You do know what I mean..I am in my 70's now..trust me it is not the 50's , or 60's..the world does play some dirty tricks on you...things seldome are talked about..it is not all bad. It is a change however. Sort of like the good news/ bad news stuff. good news is that your sure not to get pregnant. Nor do you have many worries about that..however memories linger on...we joke openly about sex and all know it is just a trace of old memories. We accept more and are learning to keep our mouth shut ( well some of us) ..We laugh more and know that it is good for us to do so. The lucky ones still have great ' girl friends'..and we cherrish those relationships..We don't care who is sleeping with who as long as it is not in our family..We have friendships that cross different life styles, color, and religion..not to mention income. We are still passionate about various causes..but tend to let the younger women carry the torch.
The only thing fun to buy in clothing seems to be shoes..the book we were going to write is so far off the back burner, it is not even on the stove..but we have BLOGGING..so we can still tell a story or two.
How I survived .. a disfunctional home, early death of my mother, being on my own as a teenager, looking for love in all the wrong places..drank too much, in fact did everything too much..and the top of the mix was I thought I knew it all. Mothered seven children and loved every moment. Then that life crashed and burned with a divorce. It is a miracle I lived this long. None of that kept me down for long.
I am a very good cook, baker, and a very good listener. I also have more self help books than Barnes and Noble..Just ask me and I have an answer..May not be what you want to hear..but trust me I have a suggestion for you. I am what is called " Street Smart"..that is my claim to fame and I love it.
I have a large circle of CRONES for dear friends and many young friends as well. I will share some of the talk along the way.
Hope you come back for a look ..and we can talk..
Peace, Micki

Gifts of a 12 step program

Thinking of putting the plug in the jug? If I can do it so can you..at first I started just to stop the hang overs..then each day it became clear that many of the decisions were made while under the influence..even on the days I did not drink..I made poor decisions. How can I ever make that time up? Well, I can't...What I can do is to live to the best of my ability ..to do the next right thing..on all levels..We all have our reasons for drinking. Mine very rapidly turned into an addiction, some call it an allergy..I am not sure what I would call it..except that as I looked back on my life..I could not remember the day I had not had something to drink. I was sure I was O.K. I don't know when I crossed the line. Do you?
Do you know that there IS help out there? All you need is the desire to stop.
Want more information? Just let me know..
When was the last time you enjoyed a Sunday morning? Are your week ends becoming longer?
Minde started by the mid week..and got longer..My friends were all of the same mind set. Are yours?
There is a solution. Give yourself a chance. If I can do it so can you.
You are worth it. You can get out of the self imposed jail of alcohol. You do not have to do this alone. We are waiting for you.
